| Research | The
ATLAS experiment at the CERN LHC proton-proton collider focuses on high
energy physics, the study of electroweak symmetry breaking, the
generation of the fermion masses and the search for dark matter. The
main research objectives are the search for the Higgs Boson,
Supersymmetry and Standard Model precision measurements.
The Giessen group is working on the determination of the luminosity for ATLAS using elastic scattering in the forward region. In addition we are involved in an upgrade of forward instrumentation for central diffractive physics. NEW(15.05.07): Helmholtz-Allianz 'Physik bei der Tera-Skala' The Helmholtz-society approves a german network for physics at the LHC, SLHC and ILC. The Giessen group receives funding for the ATLAS luminosity project. NEW(Mar.07): Giessen becomes associated member of the FSP 101 (Förderschwerpunkt des BMBF). NEW(Mar.08): Luminosity and elastic scatteringTDR submitted to LHCC! NEW(10.09.2008): LHC-startup! Start der "Weltmaschine" |
